How many months?!?

My sweet, sweet girl is TWENTY ONE months old.  21 months going on 21 years!  Here's a bit of a developmental update as well as a few pictures of the goings on around our house.

Height/Weight:  Tall and Lean!  We haven't been in for a real measurement since her 18 month appointment but at that time she was in the 60th percentile for height, 20th for weight and 80th for head circumference.  (My girl is a lolly-pop!)

Clearly most of that weight is in these CHEEKS!

Food:  We're trying a new "thing" - Natalie eats what Mommy and Daddy are eating (within reason).  She LOVES bacon - of course.  She still doesn't love straight veggies but does loves veggie burgers and pasta with lots of veggies so we're all okay.  She drinks plenty of milk and loves (watered down) lemonade - she is Garrett's cousin - after all!  She always requests a fork or spoon but if she's really hungry she will resort to using her hands - in a hurry!

Getting *really* good with the spoon

Teeth:  This is still the only area where Natalie doesn't rush things. She has 12 teeth - the front 8 and 4 molars.  Some days we think there are more on the way but we've been holding steady at 12 teeth for months now.  In other teeth news she hates brushing her teeth.  I need to do some research on ways of encouraging tooth brushing.  Suggestions welcome!

Sweet little chompers

Mobility: She runs, jumps (HILARIOUS) and dances.  But as was evident in my earlier post, her preferred method of getting around is the "bike stroller". Today Jon had to take her for a ride around the neighborhood before dinner.

Again!  Daddy bicycle!
Favorites: Bath time, solar yard lights, being outside, Roscoe's (rare) crazy runs through the house, being carried - which is quite a switch but toddler-hood seems to be a bit overwhelming at times.  Shoes (!) She's my girl and she *loves* a new pair of shoes,  Ice cream truck!

New Fears: This is totally new for all of us.  Natalie has never had stranger anxiety and typically would crawl towards loud noises as a baby (vacuum cleaner? leaf blower? No problem) but now she's frightened by the oddest things.  Airplanes flying overhead are a constant worry for her.  She runs to Jon or me, points to the sky, and tells us to listen - once its gone she will go back to playing but not until it is out of earshot.  We also can not get out of sight.  She gets very worked up if we walk around the corner without her.  Her new awareness of things being out of sight but NOT out of mind is taking some adjustment.

She's watching you!
Travel: Natalie is nothing if she isn't a well traveled little girl.  This Fall will be no different.  Luckily she's still great in the car and on airplanes - happy as long as she has Mommy/Daddy and a snack. :)
We're headed to NC this weekend then to Savannah, GA in early November for Mamaw's marathon and several weekend trips to Virginia and North Carolina before Christmas.

In Nashville in August
Talking: Last but certainly not least she is talking.  She says complete phrases regularly and is figuring out sentence structure - its so cool to hear her working through how to form her thoughts.  She tells me what she did at school, counts to 10 with ease, is learning her colors and tells us what she wants for meals.  Its amazing to hear her tell me that "Mya eats broccoli" and "Shhhh! Roscoe sleeping!".  Our favorite, of course is "I love you".
That's a sweet girl!

We're looking forward to Halloween, Thanksgiving with Nana and Pops and Christmas with Mamaw, Papaw and KATHERINE!  So much fun to be had with our sweet girl!
